Lassa Fever vaccine (Institut Pasteur Dakar)

The Lassa Fever vaccine (Institut Pasteur Dakar) is a vaccine candidate currently in the preclinical and manufacturing development stages at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar in Senegal. Developed to address the public health threat of Lassa fever, a viral hemorrhagic disease endemic to parts of West Africa, the vaccine is part of a strategic initiative supported by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). Institut Pasteur Dakar serves as a CEPI-preferred manufacturer, utilizing its MADIBA (Manufacturing in Africa for Disease Immunization and Building Autonomy) facility to ensure regional vaccine sovereignty. The program aims to establish a sustainable supply of Lassa fever vaccines for the African continent, with large-scale production facilities expected to be operational for this candidate by 2026 or 2027.
