LAT1 inhibitor (Maxymune Therapeutics)

Maxymune Therapeutics is developing a selective small-molecule inhibitor of L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) for the treatment of T-cell mediated autoimmune diseases. LAT1 is highly expressed in activated T cells but not in resting T cells, where it facilitates the uptake of neutral amino acids essential for metabolic reprogramming. By blocking LAT1, the drug prevents the co-stimulation of the mTOR complex, thereby inhibiting T-cell proliferation and reducing inflammatory responses. The program is currently in the preclinical discovery stage and leverages the metabolic dependency of activated immune cells to achieve selective immunosuppression.
