Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LBP-EC01 is an investigational **CRISPR-based bacteriophage biologic** developed by Locus Biosciences for treatment of **Escherichia coli urinary tract infections**. It consists of a **genetically enhanced six-bacteriophage cocktail** engineered with **CRISPR-Cas3** payloads that, after phage infection of susceptible *E. coli*, drive extensive degradation of bacterial DNA and thereby increase bacteriophage killing efficiency while sparing non-target members of the microbiome. The program has been described as a precision antimicrobial recombinant phage therapy and has reported proof-of-mechanism in a randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial in UTI.
