Lead-212 targeted alpha therapy (TAT) is a radiopharmaceutical platform developed by Orano Med that utilizes the alpha-emitting radioisotope Lead-212 (212Pb). This approach involves conjugating 212Pb to various targeting moieties—such as peptides, monoclonal antibodies, or DARPins—to deliver high-energy alpha particles directly to cancer cells. Alpha particles have a short range (a few cell diameters) and high linear energy transfer, causing lethal double-strand DNA breaks while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Orano Med's pipeline includes several undisclosed or early-stage programs targeting a variety of tumor-associated antigens for the treatment of various solid tumors.
