Lebrikizumab + pirfenidone is a combination therapy investigated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Lebrikizumab is a monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-13 (IL-13), aiming to block pro-fibrotic signaling, while pirfenidone is an oral small molecule with antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory effects. The combination was evaluated in phase 2 clinical studies to assess its impact on lung function decline in IPF patients. Results showed no significant reduction in decline of forced vital capacity (FVC) over 52 weeks compared to pirfenidone alone, but the safety profile was acceptable and consistent with the known profiles of each drug. The trial did not demonstrate added efficacy of lebrikizumab in combination with pirfenidone, but pharmacodynamic activity was observed for lebrikizumab[2][3].
