Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Ledipasvir + tegobuvir is a hypothetical or investigational oral combination of two direct-acting antivirals intended for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. Ledipasvir is an NS5A inhibitor that interferes with the HCV viral replication complex, while tegobuvir is a non-nucleoside NS5B polymerase inhibitor that targets the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase essential for HCV replication. This combination would, in theory, provide dual inhibition of two distinct steps in the HCV life cycle. However, there is no evidence that this specific combination has been developed, trialed, or marketed, and no clinical data or regulatory approval exists for "ledipasvir + tegobuvir" as a combination. Tegobuvir's development was stopped and it is not an approved agent in any marketed HCV therapy.
