Overview

Lenvatinib + TACE is a combination therapy that pairs the oral multikinase inhibitor lenvatinib with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) for the treatment of unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Lenvatinib inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR1-3) and other receptor tyrosine kinases involved in tumor angiogenesis and proliferation. TACE is a minimally invasive interventional radiology procedure that delivers chemotherapy directly to liver tumors while simultaneously blocking their blood supply through embolization. The combination therapy has shown synergistic effects, with lenvatinib providing systemic disease control while TACE delivers localized tumor treatment. Clinical studies have demonstrated that this combination significantly improves overall survival, progression-free survival, and tumor response rates compared to either treatment alone, while reducing the need for repeated TACE procedures and better maintaining liver function.
