Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lesinurad + ranitidine is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, each with distinct mechanisms and indications. Lesinurad is an oral selective uric acid reabsorption inhibitor that acts primarily by inhibiting the solute carrier family 22 member 12 (URAT1) and solute carrier family 22 member 11 (OAT4) in the kidneys, thereby increasing urinary excretion of uric acid. It is indicated for use in combination with a xanthine oxidase inhibitor to treat hyperuricemia associated with gout in patients not adequately controlled on xanthine oxidase inhibitors alone[3][5][6]. Ranitidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist that decreases gastric acid secretion by blocking histamine action at histamine H2 receptors on parietal cells in the stomach. It has been used to treat conditions such as peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome[1][2][8]. The combination has been studied for potential pharmacokinetic interactions but does not represent a marketed fixed-dose product[4].
