Letrozole + tecemotide is a combination therapy approach that pairs letrozole, a third-generation aromatase inhibitor, with tecemotide, a MUC1-targeted cancer vaccine. Letrozole works by decreasing estrogen production through aromatase inhibition, which is particularly effective in hormone receptor-positive breast cancers. Tecemotide (formerly known as L-BLP25 or Stimuvax) is a synthetic lipopeptide vaccine designed to induce a cellular immune response against cancer cells expressing MUC1, a glycoprotein that is overexpressed in many cancers including breast cancer. The combination has been investigated in clinical trials for the treatment of breast cancer, particularly in the neoadjuvant setting.
