Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Enantone-Gyn Monats-Depot is a monthly depot formulation of leuprorelin acetate, a synthetic gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist. It acts by initially stimulating but subsequently desensitizing the pituitary GnRH receptors, leading to a profound suppression of gonadotropin (LH and FSH) secretion and a consequent reduction in sex hormone (estrogen and testosterone) levels. Developed by Takeda, this sustained-release microcapsule formulation is administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of endometriosis, uterine fibroids (myomas), and hormone-dependent breast cancer. In clinical research, such as the GARTE Phase 4 trial in Germany, it is evaluated as a pre-treatment to improve pregnancy outcomes in women with advanced endometriosis undergoing IVF/ICSI.
