Levamlodipine + atorvastatin is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Beijing Red Sun Pharmaceutical for the simultaneous management of hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. Levamlodipine, the pharmacologically active (S)-enantiomer of amlodipine, is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that inhibits the influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. Atorvastatin is a lipid-lowering agent that competitively inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme in cholesterol synthesis, thereby reducing LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol. This combination simplifies treatment regimens for patients with co-existing cardiovascular risk factors and is approved for use in China.
