In the context of the Cairo University trial, this combination (19 ml of 0.5% levobupivacaine and 1 ml of 0.9% normal saline) is administered via ultrasound-guided spermatic cord block to manage postoperative pain in male patients undergoing testicular sperm extraction surgery. The saline component serves as a volume-matching control for the experimental adjuvant, neostigmine.
