Drug intelligence / Profile preview
FLU-98 is an oral small molecule combination product developed by Elis Pharmaceuticals India, consisting of levocetirizine and sustained-release ambroxol. Levocetirizine is a second-generation, non-sedating H1-receptor antagonist that provides relief from allergic symptoms such as sneezing, rhinorrhea, and itching by competitively inhibiting histamine binding. Ambroxol is a mucolytic and secretolytic agent that reduces mucus viscosity by breaking down acid mucopolysaccharide fibers and stimulating surfactant production, thereby facilitating the clearance of secretions from the respiratory tract. This combination is approved for the management of respiratory disorders where both allergic symptoms and productive cough are present, such as allergic bronchitis and rhinitis.
