Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Rhicet M is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing levocetirizine and montelukast. It is developed and manufactured by Azista Bhutan Healthcare as a branded generic. Levocetirizine is a second-generation antihistamine that acts as a potent and selective antagonist of peripheral H1 receptors, effectively reducing allergic symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and rhinorrhea. Montelukast is a selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene CysLT1 receptor, thereby reducing airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and inflammatory activity. The combination is primarily used for the management of allergic rhinitis and comorbid asthma, providing a synergistic effect by targeting two different inflammatory pathways.
