levonadifloxacin + linezolid

Levonadifloxacin + linezolid is a combination of two antibacterial agents used primarily for the treatment of acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI), including those caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-positive organisms such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Levonadifloxacin is a novel benzoquinolizine subclass fluoroquinolone with potent activity against MRSA and quinolone-resistant S. aureus, acting mainly through inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV. Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit, preventing formation of a functional 70S initiation complex essential for bacterial reproduction. Both drugs are available in oral and intravenous formulations. The combination has been studied in clinical trials comparing its efficacy to monotherapy in ABSSSI[3][4][5][6].
