Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Dolishale is a combination oral contraceptive containing the progestin **levonorgestrel** and the estrogen **ethinyl estradiol**. Developed and marketed by Ingenus Pharmaceuticals, it is a generic pharmaceutical product used primarily for the prevention of pregnancy. The mechanism of action involves the suppression of gonadotropins, which inhibits ovulation. Additionally, it induces changes in the cervical mucus, increasing its viscosity to inhibit sperm penetration, and alters the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation. Beyond contraception, this combination is frequently utilized for the management of menstrual disorders and the treatment of moderate acne vulgaris.
