Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gutpride Plus is a fixed-dose combination medication containing levosulpiride and rabeprazole sodium. It is primarily used in the management of gastrointestinal disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), functional dyspepsia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Levosulpiride is a substituted benzamide that acts as a selective antagonist at dopamine D2 receptors in both the central and peripheral nervous systems, providing prokinetic effects by enhancing gastric emptying and intestinal transit. Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H+/K+-ATPase enzyme system at the secretory surface of the gastric parietal cell. The combination is designed to address both acid-related symptoms and impaired gastrointestinal motility.
