Licartin + CIK is a combination therapy consisting of Licartin (Iodine-131-labeled metuximab), a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody targeting CD147 (basigin) antigen expressed in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells, which are ex vivo expanded immune effector cells with both T cell and natural killer cell properties. Licartin delivers targeted radiotherapy to tumor sites via the CD147 antigen, causing direct cytotoxicity through radiation. CIK cells exert antitumor effects by recognizing and killing tumor cells in an MHC-unrestricted manner through mechanisms involving perforin/granzyme-mediated cytotoxicity and secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines. The combination aims to enhance antitumor efficacy by integrating targeted radiotherapy with adoptive cellular immunotherapy. This approach has been investigated primarily for advanced or recurrent hepatocellular carcinoma.
