Lidocaine + cyanocobalamin is a combination therapy administered via stellate ganglion block (SGB) for the treatment of post-stroke pharyngeal dysphagia. Lidocaine acts as a local anesthetic by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, providing a temporary sympathetic blockade. Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) is included for its neurotrophic properties, which are intended to support nerve repair and recovery. The procedure involves a paratracheal injection of the mixture into the stellate ganglion to modulate the autonomic nervous system, hypothesized to improve swallowing function by enhancing local blood flow and reducing sympathetic overactivity in post-stroke patients. This specific intervention was evaluated in a randomized controlled study led by Zeng Changhao.
