mLDG is a compounded oral solution used for the symptomatic management of radiation-induced esophagitis. It is a triple-combination therapy consisting of lidocaine (0.16 mg/ml), dexamethasone (0.02 mg/ml), and gentamicin (0.16 mg/ml). Lidocaine acts as a local anesthetic to provide immediate pain relief, dexamethasone serves as a corticosteroid to reduce mucosal inflammation, and gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic included to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial activity and prevent secondary infections in the damaged esophageal mucosa. This formulation is primarily used as a conventional supportive-care control in clinical trials evaluating new treatments for acute radiation-induced esophagitis (ARIE) in patients receiving thoracic radiotherapy, such as those conducted at the Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute.
