Overview
This drug combination consists of the local anesthetic lidocaine, the vasoconstrictor epinephrine, and the synthetic glucocorticoid dexamethasone. It is being investigated by the **Isfahan University of Medical Sciences** as an enhanced anesthetic solution for inferior alveolar nerve blocks (IANB) in patients suffering from **symptomatic irreversible pulpitis**. In the presence of pulpal inflammation, standard local anesthetics like lidocaine often fail due to altered tissue pH and inflammatory sensitization of nerve fibers. The addition of dexamethasone, a potent anti-inflammatory agent, is intended to improve the success rate of the anesthetic block by reducing local inflammation and potentially modulating nerve excitability.
