Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Laceraine is a topical combination anesthetic gel developed by Phebra, containing lidocaine, tetracaine, and adrenaline. It is indicated for providing local anesthesia in open lacerations. The mechanism of action involves the sodium-channel-blocking properties of lidocaine and tetracaine, which inhibit the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby providing anesthesia. Adrenaline acts as a potent vasoconstrictor, which serves to prolong the duration of the anesthetic effect by reducing local blood flow and minimizing bleeding at the wound site. Laceraine was approved and launched in Australia in April 2026.
