Overview

Lidocaine + tranexamic acid is a compounded combination of two active pharmaceutical ingredients used primarily in surgical and procedural settings to manage pain and reduce bleeding. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that works by blocking voltage-gated sodium channels on neuronal cell membranes, thereby inhibiting nerve impulse transmission and providing local anesthesia. Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that competitively inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin, preventing fibrin degradation and stabilizing blood clots. This combination may be administered locally (e.g., subcutaneous injection or topical application) during procedures such as dermatologic surgery, ENT interventions (including post-tonsillectomy care), or plastic surgery to provide both hemostasis and analgesia. The use of this combination is typically tailored by compounding pharmacies for specific clinical needs.
