linagliptin + glargine

Linagliptin + glargine is a combination of two antidiabetic agents used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Linagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor that increases incretin levels (GLP-1 and GIP), stimulating insulin release and decreasing glucagon secretion, thereby lowering blood glucose[1]. Glargine is a long-acting basal insulin analog that provides consistent insulin levels to help control blood sugar throughout the day and night. This combination aims to improve glycemic control by targeting different mechanisms in glucose regulation—linagliptin enhances endogenous insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, while glargine supplies exogenous basal insulin.
