linezolid + sulbactam

Linzobactam is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) antibiotic consisting of linezolid and sulbactam, primarily marketed in India for the treatment of severe infections caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) bacteria. Linezolid is an oxazolidinone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby preventing the formation of the 70S initiation complex. It is highly effective against Gram-positive pathogens, including methicillin-resistant *Staphylococcus aureus* (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant *Enterococcus* (VRE). Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that irreversibly binds to and inactivates various beta-lactamase enzymes, protecting co-administered beta-lactam antibiotics from degradation. Additionally, sulbactam possesses intrinsic bactericidal activity against certain Gram-negative species, most notably *Acinetobacter baumannii*, by binding to penicillin-binding proteins.
