Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Linoleic acid + oleic acid is a combination of two naturally occurring unsaturated fatty acids. Linoleic acid is a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid, essential for human health and must be obtained from the diet[10]. Oleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid found abundantly in olive oil and other plant sources[7]. Both are major components of dietary fats and oils, collectively constituting over 80% of the total fatty acids in many plant-derived oils[3]. This combination has been used as a media supplement in cell culture to induce cellular stress or lipid accumulation, and may have synergistic effects on biological processes such as fat digestion, absorption, and cellular metabolism[8][3]. Mechanistically, linoleic acid serves as a precursor for eicosanoids (prostaglandins, thromboxanes), which mediate inflammation and other physiological functions; oleic acid influences membrane fluidity and can modulate cholesterol levels[6][7][9].
