Lipidem + gemcitabine is a combination therapy consisting of Lipidem (a proprietary mixture of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids—docosahexaenoic acid [DHA] and eicosapentaenoic acid [EPA]) and the chemotherapeutic agent gemcitabine. This combination has demonstrated anti-proliferative and anti-invasive efficacy in vitro against pancreatic cancer cells and pancreatic stellate cells (PSCs), with PSCs showing the greatest sensitivity. The mechanism involves inhibition of cell proliferation, invasion, and platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) secretion. Gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis by incorporation into DNA as its active triphosphate metabolite (dFdCTP), leading to masked chain termination and apoptosis in malignant cells[2][4][5]. Lipidem acts through modulation of cellular signaling pathways associated with inflammation, proliferation, and invasion.
