Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LipoCurc is a liposomal formulation of curcumin developed by SignPath Pharma to overcome the poor aqueous solubility and low bioavailability of free curcumin. Curcumin is a natural polyphenol that exhibits pleiotropic anti-cancer activities by modulating various molecular targets, most notably inhibiting the transcription factors NF-κB and STAT3, which are key drivers of inflammation, survival, and proliferation in glioma cells. The liposomal delivery system (SPP404) is designed to enhance systemic exposure and facilitate the crossing of the blood-brain barrier. LipoCurc is currently being investigated in Phase I/II clinical trials in combination with standard-of-care radiation and temozolomide for the treatment of newly diagnosed high-grade gliomas, where it aims to sensitize tumor cells to therapy and improve patient outcomes.
