Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liraglutide + insulin aspart is a preclinical-stage combination therapy being developed by Biogenomics (India). It combines a biosimilar version of liraglutide, a long-acting glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist, with a biosimilar version of insulin aspart, a rapid-acting insulin analog. This recombinant protein combination is administered via subcutaneous injection and is designed to improve glycemic control in patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus. By simultaneously targeting the GLP-1 receptor and the insulin receptor, the therapy aims to provide synergistic effects on blood glucose management while potentially reducing cardiovascular risk in patients with Type 2 diabetes. The product leverages Biogenomics' expertise in recombinant protein production and biosimilar development, utilizing their existing individual biosimilar components in a fixed-dose or co-administered format.
