liraglutide + semaglutide + dapagliflozin

liraglutide + semaglutide + dapagliflozin is a combination therapeutic regimen being investigated by the Dasman Diabetes Institute for the treatment of patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), obesity, and chronic kidney disease (CKD). The regimen utilizes two classes of glucose-lowering agents: glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), specifically liraglutide or semaglutide, and the sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor dapagliflozin. Liraglutide and semaglutide function as GLP-1 receptor agonists, which enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppress glucagon levels, and promote weight loss through increased satiety and delayed gastric emptying. Dapagliflozin acts by inhibiting SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, reducing glucose reabsorption and promoting its excretion in the urine. This combination is being studied in the OTID clinical trial to evaluate its synergistic effects on body weight reduction and the preservation of kidney function in the T1DM population.
