Overview

Lisonorm is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) medication containing lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of primary hypertension in patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy. Lisinopril works by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to the potent vasoconstrictor angiotensin II, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and aldosterone secretion. Amlodipine acts by inhibiting the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and decreased blood pressure. The combination provides a synergistic effect, improving efficacy and potentially reducing the incidence of side effects like peripheral edema associated with amlodipine. Sichuan Shangrui Biopharmaceutical has developed a generic version of this product, which was originally marketed by Gedeon Richter.
