Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Liver extract + flavin adenine dinucleotide is a combined preparation that has been widely used in patients with chronic liver diseases, particularly in Japan. One milliliter of this agent contains 15 microliters of phenol-soluble phase of liver nucleic acid fraction and 10 mg of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). This combination appears to enhance the anti-viral efficacy of interferon (IFN) in patients with chronic hepatitis C by increasing 2'5'-oligoadenylate synthetase (2'5-AS) production, possibly as a result of increased mitochondrial adenosine triphosphate production.
