Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CKD-383 is a triple fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy being developed by Chong Kun Dang Pharmaceutical for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It consists of three oral hypoglycemic agents with complementary mechanisms of action: lobeglitazone, a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-gamma) agonist that improves insulin sensitivity; empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that promotes urinary glucose excretion; and metformin, a biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production and improves peripheral glucose uptake. By combining these three agents into a single tablet, CKD-383 aims to provide enhanced glycemic control and improved patient compliance compared to individual or dual therapies. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to establish its pharmacokinetic profile and safety compared to the co-administration of its individual components.
