Overview

This is a **combination therapy** consisting of *lobradimil* and *amphotericin B*. Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal agent that targets ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, increasing membrane permeability and resulting in cell death. It is indicated for serious, life-threatening fungal infections and is sometimes used to treat leishmaniasis[2][4][6]. Lobradimil (also known as RMP-7) is a bradykinin B2 receptor agonist that transiently increases blood-brain barrier permeability, potentially enhancing delivery of co-administered drugs to the central nervous system; however, lobradimil is an investigational agent and not approved for routine clinical use. No major clinical trials or regulatory approvals for the direct combination of **lobradimil + amphotericin B** are publicly reported as of the current date. Use of the combination would be experimental, potentially intended to facilitate CNS penetration of amphotericin B for treatment of recalcitrant fungal infections of the brain.
