Overview

Lomustine + vincristine is a combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used primarily in the treatment of certain brain tumors, such as gliomas and medulloblastomas. Lomustine is an alkylating agent of the nitrosourea class that works by damaging DNA and RNA, thereby inhibiting cancer cell replication. Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation, arresting cell division during mitosis. This combination exploits different mechanisms to target rapidly dividing tumor cells and may be used as part of multi-drug regimens or in specific protocols for central nervous system malignancies[5][8]. Both drugs are associated with significant side effects, including myelosuppression (lomustine) and neurotoxicity (vincristine)[5][8].
