This is a **fixed-dose combination drug** comprising a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) and a long-acting muscarinic antagonist (LAMA), both of which are used as inhaled bronchodilators for maintenance treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). LABAs stimulate adenylyl cyclase activity via beta2-adrenergic receptor agonism, directly causing airway smooth muscle relaxation. LAMAs inhibit acetylcholine at muscarinic (primarily M3) receptors, indirectly causing airway smooth muscle relaxation and reducing parasympathetic tone[1][2][5]. When combined, they provide superior bronchodilation and improve symptoms, lung function, and quality of life in COPD patients compared to monotherapies. These combinations are available in single inhalers and improve patient adherence and outcomes[1]. Commonly used long-acting drugs in these categories are indacaterol (LABA) and glycopyrronium (LAMA), among others[5].
