Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Loperamide + golden bifid is a combination therapy consisting of loperamide, a synthetic opioid antidiarrheal agent, and golden bifid, a probiotic preparation. Loperamide acts as an agonist at μ-opioid receptors in the myenteric plexus of the large intestine, slowing intestinal motility and reducing diarrhea by increasing absorption of fluids and electrolytes[3][4][6][8]. Golden bifid is a probiotic formulation containing beneficial bacteria (commonly Bifidobacterium species), intended to restore or maintain healthy gut flora balance. This combination has been studied for prevention and treatment of drug-induced diarrhea (e.g., pyrrolitinib-associated diarrhea) in clinical settings[2]. The rationale is that loperamide provides rapid symptomatic relief while golden bifid supports gut microbiota health.
