Overview

Loratadine + pseudoephedrine is an oral combination drug consisting of loratadine, a long-lasting second-generation antihistamine (H1 histamine receptor antagonist), and pseudoephedrine, a sympathomimetic decongestant. This combination is used to relieve symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis and the common cold, including nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose (rhinorrhea), itchy or watery eyes or nose (pruritus and lacrimation), and sinus pain. Loratadine works by selectively blocking peripheral histamine H1 receptors to reduce allergy symptoms without causing significant sedation. Pseudoephedrine acts as an agonist at adrenergic receptors in the nasal mucosa, leading to vasoconstriction that reduces swelling of nasal passages and improves breathing. The product is available over-the-counter in various extended-release tablet formulations[1][2][3][4][5].
