Overview

Lorazepam + methylprednisolone is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used together, most commonly in supportive care for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Lorazepam is a benzodiazepine that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the GABA(A) receptor, producing anxiolytic, sedative, anticonvulsant, and amnestic effects[5][6]. Methylprednisolone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties; it works by binding to the glucocorticoid receptor and modulating gene expression to suppress inflammation and immune responses[7][8]. This combination has been studied primarily for its role in controlling nausea and vomiting (antiemesis) associated with chemotherapy. Lorazepam may also reduce anxiety related to treatment. The combination does not have unique brand or code names as a fixed-dose product but is used off-label in clinical protocols.
