This is a **combination product** containing two active ingredients: **losartan**, an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) commonly used to treat hypertension and protect renal function, and **alpha lipoic acid**, a small-molecule antioxidant that scavenges free radicals, regenerates endogenous antioxidants, and modulates oxidative stress. Combination of losartan with alpha lipoic acid is under clinical development for the management of diabetic nephropathy and chronic kidney disease, especially in hypertensive diabetic patients, based on evidence suggesting additive or synergistic effects on reducing proteinuria, improving renal biomarkers, and reducing oxidative stress. INV-144 is a clinical-stage candidate based on this combination[4][5]. The mechanism relies on losartan blocking angiotensin II mediated vasoconstriction and organ damage and alpha lipoic acid enhancing antioxidant defense and reducing renal injury.
