This is a combination therapy consisting of low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) and folic acid. LMWHs are anticoagulant agents that inhibit clotting factors, primarily factor Xa and to a lesser extent factor IIa (thrombin), thereby reducing the risk of thrombosis. Folic acid is a water-soluble B vitamin essential for DNA synthesis, repair, and methylation; it also helps prevent neural tube defects in pregnancy. The combination has been studied primarily in women with recurrent miscarriage (RM), particularly those without antiphospholipid antibodies or with inherited thrombophilia. In this context, LMWH may reduce miscarriage rates by its anticoagulant effect and by protecting trophoblast phospholipids during implantation[1][8]. Folic acid supplementation supports normal fetal development and may be especially important in women with certain genetic mutations affecting homocysteine metabolism[6]. This combination is not marketed as a fixed-dose product but rather as concurrent administration of both agents.
