Lucinactant + treprostinil is a combination of two drugs intended for respiratory indications. Lucinactant is a synthetic peptide-containing surfactant designed to mimic human surfactant protein-B, used primarily for the prevention and treatment of respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in preterm infants. It improves lung compliance and reduces surface tension in the alveoli, thereby enhancing gas exchange and reducing the risk of RDS-related complications[2][3][7]. Treprostinil is a prostacyclin analog that acts as a vasodilator, primarily used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension by dilating pulmonary arteries and inhibiting platelet aggregation[6]. The combination may be explored for synergistic effects in treating severe respiratory conditions where both improved alveolar function (via lucinactant) and pulmonary vasodilation (via treprostinil) are beneficial.
