Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Lung Dispersing, Turbid Descending and Gut Clearing Decoction (LTGD) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed for the treatment of bronchiectasis, particularly in clinically stable patients. From the perspective of TCM, the decoction is designed to address congenital insufficiencies of the lung, spleen, and kidney that lead to heat trapping in the phlegm, the congestion of "wind evils," and blood stagnation. The therapeutic mechanism involves dispersing lung qi, clearing heat and turbidity, and promoting gastrointestinal clearance (gut clearing) to alleviate respiratory symptoms and reduce the frequency of exacerbations. Clinical investigations, such as the multicenter trial NCT03177889, have been conducted by institutions including the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University to evaluate its safety and efficacy in improving the quality of life for bronchiectasis patients.
