Overview

This is a **combination regimen** comprised of four distinct pharmaceuticals: - **lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide**: a radiolabeled somatostatin analog (also known as 177Lu-dotatate, brand name Lutathera), used in radionuclide therapy, particularly for somatostatin-receptor positive gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). It binds to somatostatin receptors on tumor cells and delivers beta radiation directly to the tumor, causing DNA damage and cell death[2][1]. - **carboplatin**: a platinum-based chemotherapy agent that forms DNA crosslinks and inhibits DNA replication and transcription, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. - **etoposide**: a topoisomerase II inhibitor that prevents DNA relegation, causing DNA strand breaks and apoptosis in cancer cells. - **atezolizumab**: a monoclonal antibody check-point inhibitor targeting programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1), which blocks the PD-1/PD-L1 interaction, enhancing the immune response against tumor cells. This combination therapy is experimental and, as of September 2025, is not an established named regimen or branded combination. Used together, these agents synergize their antineoplastic effects through radiopharmaceutical targeting, DNA damage, cell cycle inhibition, and immune checkpoint blockade to enhance killing of cancer cells. Primary indication: under clinical investigation for neuroendocrine tumors with somatostatin receptor expression; other uses possible in solid tumors where this combination is under study.
