Drug intelligence / Profile preview
LY01007 is a prolonged-release microsphere formulation of triptorelin acetate, a synthetic decapeptide analog of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). Developed by Shandong Luye Pharmaceutical, it is designed for the treatment of prostate cancer. As a GnRH agonist, triptorelin initially stimulates the pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). However, continuous administration leads to the downregulation of GnRH receptors, resulting in the suppression of LH and FSH secretion. This leads to a reduction in serum testosterone to castrate levels, thereby inhibiting the growth of testosterone-dependent prostate cancer cells. The microsphere technology allows for a controlled release of the drug over an extended period, reducing the frequency of administration compared to immediate-release formulations.
