Overview

LY2181308 + docetaxel is a combination therapy consisting of LY2181308, an antisense oligonucleotide targeting survivin mRNA, and docetaxel, a taxane-class chemotherapeutic agent. LY2181308 inhibits the expression of survivin, an antiapoptotic protein overexpressed in various cancers and associated with resistance to chemotherapy. By downregulating survivin, LY2181308 aims to restore apoptosis in tumor cells and enhance the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy. Docetaxel disrupts microtubule function during cell division, leading to cell death. This combination has been investigated primarily for its potential to improve outcomes in patients with advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC), but clinical trials have not demonstrated significant efficacy improvements over standard therapies[1][2][5].
