Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Laflavon (lycopene + isoflavones) is a dietary supplement combination formulation containing 7 mg of lycopene and 50 mg of soy isoflavones. Developed by CamMedica, it utilizes a novel formulation intended to enhance the bioavailability of its individual components. Lycopene is a carotenoid with potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, while soy isoflavones are phytoestrogens that can influence metabolic signaling. The product was evaluated in a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial (NCT01377961) sponsored by the University of Texas Medical Branch to assess its effects on insulin resistance and HbA1c levels in patients with metabolic syndrome or mild type 2 diabetes mellitus.
