Overview

Lysoderm is a topical cream formulation of lysozyme (specifically lysozyme hydrochloride), a naturally occurring enzyme with antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties. Developed by Bosnalijek, Lysoderm is indicated for the local treatment of minor wounds, skin injuries, burns, and damaged skin to promote epithelialization and accelerate the healing process. It is also used to treat skin lesions of herpetic origin, diaper dermatitis, solar dermatitis (sunburn), and chronic wounds such as decubitus ulcers and diabetic skin ulcers. Lysozyme exerts its antimicrobial effect by hydrolyzing the beta-1,4-glycosidic bonds in the peptidoglycan of bacterial cell walls, leading to cell lysis, and by enhancing local non-specific immunity.
