Drug intelligence / Profile preview
M(F)-DeltaAkt-transduced dendritic cells is an experimental cell-based immunotherapy developed at Baylor College of Medicine. The therapy involves the genetic modification of a patient's dendritic cells to express a constitutively active, lipid raft-targeted form of the Akt1 protein (M(F)-DeltaAkt). This modification is designed to activate the proto-oncogene c-akt (Akt1) pathway, which significantly enhances the survival, maturation, and antigen-presenting potency of the dendritic cells. By creating longer-lived and more active dendritic cells, the therapy aims to stimulate stronger and more durable T-cell responses compared to conventional dendritic cell vaccines. Preclinical studies have shown that these modified cells can effectively eradicate established lymphomas and aggressive B16 melanomas in murine models by enhancing T-cell proliferation and activation.
