Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Macrogol 3350 + dietary fiber is a combination intervention developed by the University of Copenhagen for the PRIMA-KOST clinical trial. This regimen is designed to investigate the impact of intestinal transit time on the gut microbiome's composition and metabolic output. The pharmaceutical component, Movicol (macrogol 3350), is an osmotic laxative that increases fecal water content and stool volume, thereby accelerating transit through the colon. This is paired with controlled dietary fiber intake (high or low fiber) to evaluate how the speed of transit influences the microbial fermentation of dietary substrates. The study aims to refine personalized dietary recommendations by understanding individual microbiome responses to transit time modulation.
